I would like to get some opinions. I have been an avid gamer since I was about 3 years old. I've worked through from the old Atari 800, through Dos, to windows 3.x, 95 .... up to XP. I've built a few systems of my own and have experience in many related fields. Computers are my life. Now I have always had the fantasy to get the biggest and the best state-of-the-art PC at a relatively affordable price. I'm finally able to afford one... and it seems Alienware has the best ratings and quality. Here is a sample system that I was looking into.

2-Year AlienCare Toll-Free 24/7 Phone Support with Onsite Service
Alienware Full-Tower Case (420-Watt PS) - Space Black

They make really good machines... Expensive, but they're nicely done... If you don't mind spending the money....

I was looking into the Athlon rigs. The only downfall to that was that Alienware only offers it with ASUS A7N8X Deluxe - NVIDIA

2 gig of ram on a game machine will net you nothing. I've been running 1 gig to 1.5 gig for quite a while on the last 5 machines i have built in the last year or so. No matter what game I load I've always have a ton of memory left over for other apps. Even tweaking memory settings to max on any game doesn't soak a gig of ram not even close. I've got two mobos based on the nforce2 here at the house and they are friggin rocks. they perform well asus makes some of the best and most stable boards out there thats why alien goes with them. You are paying one heck of a premium for the 3.2ghz P4 I don't know if you would notice the frame rate increase to justify the 200mhz increase in the proc. You are also paying a heafty premium for the 5900 I'd save a hundred bucks or so and go with the ATI 9800 pro at this point. I will say you will see more from an extra 128mb of ram on the video card than you will 1gb of ram in the system. This thing will break the bank and will give you major buyers remorse in about a year. I think you are paying 1500 hundred bucks more or so just so you can say you have the biggest cock for 3 to 6 months until the next big thing comes out. Been there done that. I personally buy to much computer stuff to stay on the bleeding edge. I've got a GF4 on an 8DRA+ Epoch board running 1gb ram oc'ed athlon at 2250mhz it runs everything out there well and I didn't spend 3k to put it together. I will be upgrading the vid card soon now that the market is finally putting out decent dx9 cards that are decently priced. I've seen alot of Alienware machines and I have never seen one with a problem. I personally couldn't spend it.

Intel isnt crap for games, dont be stupid. My brother just bought a dell 4600 with 2.4ghz 512meg ram ati radeon 9800 for 939 usd. Best money ever spent on a computer, it runs bf1942,eq,hl,ofp,motogp2, etc at high fps with 4xAA and 4af. Go learn something about intel processors before you bash them.

For $3600 you could make your own computer. I don't trust any computer I didn't build. Just go to pricewatch.com, amdmb.com, frozencpu.com, directron.com and search for the parts.

dude build your own computer its much cheaper....to tell ya the truth the only reason alien ware is expensive is cuz they got those fancy cases thats about it. your paying for style not quality.
pentium processers.....well....i cant say much im still running on a old pentium 2 the older modles of the pentium are really reliable but the newer ones... i dunno. stick with athlon they dont over heat as much and they are very good quality.

if you wanna build a good computer goto newegg.com its a really good websight cheap and you can get free shipping on most stuff.

i guarentee you can build a top of the line computer for about 900 dollars if even that.
