Hi,
I have a few questions about running your own EQEmu server with just the EQ Classic features. I know that if you want just the Classic EQ content then just install the Classic EQ game, but what about the following.

1. Is there a way to have the server only allow players with the Classic EQ installed or for the server to ignore any of the add-ons thta might be installed on a players remote PC?

2. Is there a way to tell the server to use the classic EQ features so things such os the original level limit will be enforced and newer stuff like AA points and anything that was added after the expansions would be unavailable to the players on htat classic server?

3. Also, regarding the spells and combat, is there a way to have it mirror the classic EQ spells and combat?

4. Is it possible to have the server and clients who connect to the server see and use the old interface that was around during the original release? I recently logged on to a emulated server and saw how different the interface looks. I'm not saying it looks bad, but I'd like to keep my server as close to the original EQ as possible on all fronts.

Well, thats all I guess.

Thanks
John

Mr. von Draugr.

Yes you can, and there are several (?) servers that do. Guild Wars is a classic server. And it's not as complicated as you make it sound, you can set up an EQ Classic server with tweaks in the Database, etc. All that level restriction and EQ Classic features... That stuff doesn't come from the User's computer, it's from the server. Such as in Classic Najena drops Jboots, your computer's files don't tell the server it drops Jboots, if that were possible then everyone on EQ Live would be twinked out beyond belief because they tweaked with the files. So it's really about you knowing what EQ Classic was like and setting your server up that way. You can get that information from various sources...
