Hey all.

I just recently came across this site (today actually) and I felt the urge to join. I've always thought an emulator for EverQuest would be nice, never actually thought to look for an existing one until today.

Now, I've been reading around the pages and whatnot, getting excited about connecting to an emulated server. I was kind of confused at first, but I think I pieced some things together.

Now, I know there are certain subjects that, for one reason or another, are sore to talk about when it comes to you moderators, so I hope I don't infringe upon any illegal chatter in this post.

Basically, as it stands now, I've got the most recent version of EverQuest. Patched it, like, yesterday. Now, in order to connect to a server, simply to play, (I don't want to host my own or anything), all I have to do is:

1) Replace the eqhost.txt file in my EverQuest backup directory.

2) Await the arrival of the next emulator update.

Is that it? I have my login/name password, obviously. Do I need to physically download any files in order to play, or am I accurate with the description of events that need to occur in order for me to connect to a server?

I thank you for your help (and patience, as yes, I suppose that I can be referred to as a 'noob').

Thanks so much!

~ Mike

Yes, that is all you need to play on someone else's server. There are routinely 30+ public servers up.

Yeah, that's the simplest way. Use a different folder for EqEmu, once you play pretend EQEmu is a different game then EQLive so they don't ever, uhhh... meet. The Less complicated you make it, the less problems you have... I think

Excellent, thanks so much guys!

Yea - I definitely made the new folder, heh. Don't need any evil Verant monsters lurking in anything they shouldn't be seeing, lmao.

Cool, so yea, I'll definitely be awaiting the next update. I can't wait to try it out, heheh.

Anyways, thanks again! :)
