Some parts of the HowTos just aren't agreeing and/or getting fairly dated....

Right now I just want to log onto the EQEmu servers.

I read and followed the README posted by Shawn319.

Unless I am blind and/or senile and/or stupid, I dont need to load the patcher IF i'm just logging into the EQEmu servers.

Unless I am blind and/or senile and/or stupid, I dont need worry about the SQL either IF i'm just logging into the EQEmu servers.

I followed the instructions to a T, and got to the login ok, but got the '1013' message. OK, so I read the forums on that and what to do with the SQL thingy....Hmmm the README file said I didn't need to do the SQL thingy if I just want to log on....

It also seems like I need to do the the patcher in some post, but not others if I just wanto login....

Would someone please enlighten me, slap me, flame me, I don't care just tell me WTF

Thanks!

In order to logon to the EQEmu servers, you do not need to run your own EQEmu server. You can point your EQ client to connect to someone else's. You only need to change your eqhost.txt file. See the front page news bulletin for more information.

At this time, you can only connect to 0.5.0-DR1 servers. Don't bother connecting to any previous versions, no matter how tempted your mouse button clicking finger may be. 0.5.0-DR1 is unsupported and under development at this point. If you go into this with the expectation that nothing will work, you'll be in the same boat the rest of us are in. Pass the nachos.
