I can log in and all that fine, but once I reach the server select screen, if I select any server it says "Error 1017, cannot login to the world server." How do I stop that from happening? I know this is one of the questions in the FAQ section but I tried that (minus the whole patching thing) and it did not work.

Yeah I saw that. Could you please clarify? I was under the impression 5.0.5 is out seeing as I can even get so far as the server select screen by changing the host directory to eqlogin1.eqemu.net:5997. Is this simply due to the fact I do not have the eqemu patcher that I cannot get on? (I know it was taken down, don't ban me, the question is related to the patcher, not about the patcher itself)

No, 0.5.0 is not yet out. I added something to the bottom of that FAQ just now, check it out.

Thanks Merth, that helped clear up some of my confusion...

this will teach me to take a break and not back up everything i had on to CD :x
