If you havent noticed, minilogin has been updated to work with the latest client. You can download it here:

I tried out the new Mini-Login with the latest 0.5.X source on linux, and I still get the following message =>
(From MiniLogin on Windoze)
Login server listening on port:5999
Bad Version (proto): #1 192.168.0.100:50312
(From World on Linux)
World server listening on: 192.168.0.100:9000
Connected to LoginServer: 192.168.0.101:5999
Login server responded with FatalError. Disabling reconnect.
Error message: 'Incorrect version'
Also, MiniLogin is now complaining about an invalid .ini file format, where the old one had no issue with it, I get the following messages, though the format didn't change =>
Error in MiniLoginConfig.ini on line #1: Invalid format, should be 'IP username password'
The first line is =>
127.0.0.1 eqemu eqemu
If all that is needed to fix MiniLogin is some hex edits to change the version data, just say so, and perhaps mentioning with version in "world" is wrong would help also.

Just tried on a single box, using world built from the latest CVS 0.5 code, and running MiniLogin under wine (which sucks up a ton of CPU, but had worked ok in the past), and I have the exact same problem.
Are any of the developers actively trying this stuff out under linux?
Many Thanks

FYI, There were some changes checked in this evening which seem to fix this problem, so now everything is working perfectly. The latest MiniLogin on SourceForge works quite well with the latest code in the 0.5 source tree.
Many thanks for the great work.

I am just curious - why is there no source code released for MiniLogin? It would be nice to run it under linux (without wine)...

Because its basically the loginserver code at limits. The loginserver code is not released for the same reason this isn't.
Minilogin was made for people who want to run servers on their own computer without the lag, etc... its easier to test with, but they'd need loginserver source/binary to do that so they just created this.
I'm not exactly sure why it can't be released.
But I believe it has to do with GNU

What about a linux binary then? :)

because linux distros arent the same, something I compile on my redhat system might not work on your system.

Well I know that... but offering at least one (This one is for RedHat blahblah) is better than none at all
