I was generaly meandering across the net and found this program called FireDaemon which lets ya run any program as a windows service. Thought it might be usefull for running eqemu as FireDaemon will make sure its running and restart it if it crashes. I havnt got round to trying it though so if its usefull let us know.
anyway heres link: http://www.firedaemon.com/

Interesting idea, but I wonder.. How would we handle opening up X number of zones, each of which has different params. Would we do X different services?

It seems like a better idea to just create a service that simulates the batch file. Have a config file with the number of zones to run and all the other settings needed. The service would just keep track of running zones and restart crashed ones.
Seem like this would be really nice for when the code is more stable though. Right now its more useful to see the Zone output and restart them yourself.

Well there is a command to put in variables table ( holdzones 1 ) that will reboot a zone that goes down. But IIRC it does not always recover the crashed zone, at least not on windows. And to Valdain's suggestion on having an outside program control booting and rebooting of zones, I had made a program awhile ago that does just that. If anyone wants it they can PM me in IRC.

Yeah i was thinking just setup each different zoneserver, worldserver, loginserver instance as a system service and just let FireDaemon start/restart them as needed. But as i said i havnt tried it so prolly wont be that easy in practice.
