Alrighty, I've muddled through this and lurked myself through the whole process, and my gut tells me I'm very nearly done. Now here's where I am...
Minilogin, world, boot5zones. Run, in that sequence. No error messages, save for
[LoginConfig] block not found in LoginServer.ini.
So, I figure all is well and good. I launch EQ, and it auths me in just fine, no problem. Then, at the server selection screen.... no servers.
I do wonder if this is due to the fact that I am totally patched and the patch is incompatible ATM.....
Help?

And low and behold, it was just a few extra spaces at the ends of the ip addresses. Solving that, I then experienced my next problem, a 1017 error, which I have determined from forum browsing is the result of using the live patch. Oh well, now I know how to do it, so just waiting for 5.0 support for the newest live patch, i guess ;)

MiniLogin requires an account for it to run without 1017 errors. If thats not the case, then its your connection. (Don't ask me why, it just is.. if you have a firewall.. that is the other possible thing).

This is most likely where you are going to find your answers as most people do not listen to my posts.
Let's try with this one first.
If you are getting a 1017 with a minilogin server - Try this
If you are using minilogin and don't have the account eqemu with the password eqemu "WITH" status 200. Minilogin will give you 1017 errors.
Simple ways to fix it.
1. Get EQAdmin and add eqemu/eqemu status 200.
2. Open up mysql.exe like you did when you setup your database.
use eq(or your db name);
INSERT INTO account SET name='eqemu', password='eqemu', status=200;
(THE SAME EXACT WAY) You HAVE to have it like that _no matter_ what. The only thing you can change is the database name. I'm sick of people not following directions when they are _RIGHT_ in front of them.
Ok! Good job!.. If that didn't work, lets move along to the next one.
"Error 1017" on Windows XP
If you are getting a 1017 error when connecting to your server, make sure the Windows XP Firewall is disabled. You can check this by right clicking "My Network Places" on your desktop and clicking properties, then right clicking "Local Area Connection" assuming you have a cable modem or something similure and clicking Properties. Then go to the Advanced tab. Make sure Internet Connection firewall is un-checked.

I looked at all of those posts before I posted....
here's a screenshot of my current db listing under accounts:

Firewall is disabled, and i'm running the server on the same comp I'm testing the client on. You sure the current 4.4 release is compatible with the latest live patch?

no 4.4 is NOT compatable with live....0.5.0 is the newest release and the last Live patch isnt compatable.

Alright. Thanks for trying to help dark, but next time, read my post before you go out of your way to help me. I mentioned that I was running the latest live patch (TMK, with a fresh install of everquest, with the eqemu patcher nonfunctional, it's either the unpatched install or the live patch. Am I right?).

You could have been making a .5 server.
and befor you start on that rember its a blank DB no mobs ect and requires coding experience because its not done or supported.

Yea, I could probably get a 5 server to work with enough sweat... I'll do that once the next release of it is out, the one thats compatible with the latest live.
Thanks again fer yer help, I'll try to stick around and make m'self useful.
