View Full Version : Error 1017, Never got this before

Hey all, just ran into a problem a day or so ago ... Thats never happened to me before .... When I first came to this community about a week or 2 ago, I downloaded the files need to play and all that, and it worked I could join any server however there were no servers with like more then 5 people so I just didnt play ... Well I came back to see if any servers made any progress and yesterday I seen a server with 35ppl on so I tried to join and got this error

Error 1017: Cant connect to EQ server, Re-Run patch ect.

Somthin along the lines of that .... So I can back to the site and I got the files again the login thing or whatnot from the Guide section and it still dont work...For any server .... Also I can go into chat server if that means anything .... Can anyone help ? Thanks in advance all

35 People on it means it was probably Wintersroar?

Which means if you patched 2 weeks ago, then you don't have the December patch to play 4.4 (which is what Wintersroar is).

If it's telling you to re-run patch it 99% of a chance means you don't have the right files to play on that server. So i'm positive you're trying to connect to a 4.4 server.

SO every server is a 4.4 server ? Because before I could connect on every server, now I cant connect on any server ...and no it wasnt Winterthor or whatever its called, i was the 1 thats like in the title says (Items, Nocs and more) or somthin like that ...and another server i was tryibn to join was called like (eqserver.com) or somthin .... None of the servers work .... =/ what files should iI have ? i got them from the "guide" section i mean the only files u need are the login thing right, and EQW.... ?

Not every server is a 4.4 server. Many are 5.0DRx servers. If you have current files for eq (patched to eqlive recently), you can play the most current eqemu (5.0DR3). If you have only old files for eq, you can play 4.4. You can't ask for old files or new files, so don't try that. Just play the ones that your current setup allows you to play.
