I am having problems once I reach the server screen.
I am using minlogin so im using the correct password etc.
I get to the server screen where my server name is present.
When I click it then click play everquest the screen goes black for a few moments then comes up with a windows error says "eqgame.exe has created an error and will close" "click cancel to close the application" not exactly like that but im sure everyone who has windows has seen the error im talking about a time or two...
Any help would be appreciated.. I have never even been able to get to the character creation screen.
Thanks for any help you can provide..

if you're running in fullscreen i would try doing it windowed, it may be the problem, but that's just an idea that popped into my head

Are you using EQW when the problem occurs? I've yet to get EQW to work correctly, and crash at the same point with the same error as the one you describe when I use it. If I don't use EQW, everything works fine, so if you ARE using EQW, don't :)

Is your desktop set to 16bit color? if not, try that..

I personally have tried both 16-bit and 32-bit for my desktop color settings and it still crashes at the same point for me either way. EQ's resolution doesn't seem to matter, either, for me.
If you want to use EQEMu WITHOUT EQW, the command line you want is, "eqgame.exe patchme". I use a little file called nopatch.bat whose contents are basically this:
@echo off
eqgame.exe patchme
All it does is bypass the patch server, which is all you really need. You'll be running in "normal" fullscreen mode, but it'll work fine. I often use this technique on "real" EQ to bypass the wait for the patch server to scan my EQ files. It can be very important to log back in fast if you crash to desktop during a raid (or need to reset your connection) and with my crappy 56kbps connection, I need all the help I can get :).
Hope this helps :)

Sometimes people cant get EQ to work using patchme (crashes or locks up or get wierd connect errors).. its best to try all possible ways to load EQ if one doesnt work.. if EQW doesnt work, try a differant desktop color mode (16bit works the best). if EQW doesnt work on either mode (rarely happens) then try patchme.. but i encourage using EQW first.

here is a useful point to note
in loginserver.ini the line where you define the login sever
reads currently like this
loginserver=lapdance.cyberjunky.net
Make sure that there is NO space after the last letter ......
Sound simple
but cut and paste can put white space on the end of the line.
That fixed it for me :D
