Error 1017

Howdy all,

Just wondering why I might be getting this error, login bad? :?
It keeps saying that I need to Re-Run Patcher, and that patcher server is not responding. I know that EQ Live is down right now, would this be a factor into my problem? Just wondering.

The latest EQ Live Patch (Oct 9) has broken the 0.5.0-DR4 EQEMu code. Don't patch! If you already did, you will not be able to play the emulator until we fix it.

If you see a post asking for help with the 1017 error message, it's very likely the person did not read this message. Just point them to the news section!

The official ETA for this fix is April 12, 2007. Hopefully things will go well and we can surprise you with an early release!

If you missed the the warning not to patch, there may still be hope left. The conditions are:

A) Your windows edition has the option for a "System Restore"

B) You haven't installed anything on your computer recently that you must have/simply can't get again.

C) You can follow some simple directions

If any of the above are stopping you, I apologize for wasting your time. HOWEVER, if they are not, listen up.

Go into your Start Menu. Go to your "Programs Folder>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore. Once System Restore is opened, make sure "Restore my computer to an earlier time" is selected and click Next. Scan the convenient calender to a date before the patch, closest to today. (Luckily EQ hasn't been patched in a while.) Pick your date, click Next, Next, and you're home free. It'll restore to your chosen date, and restart your computer for you. Feels just like time-travel.

Also, at any point that you are unhappy with your system restoration, you may enter the program once again, and undo the restore. Yes, computers are THAT user friendly. :) Hope this helps at least one person! Toodles!

I wonder, if I reinstall EQ and don't patch to the eqlive specs is that going to fix it?

no cause then you will ether have no patches or be batched to live. EQEMU is currently running on the patch befor this last one.

if you really want it back just patch EQ click on EverQuest.exe that let it patch

yes but everyone have told me if they find out i was using it i will be banned in a heart beat. and i don't want that to happen

doesnt work m8 i did it only possible way to roll back is with warez which i believe has been said to be illegal so ur sol bud sorry cause system restore doesnt restore everything just the main files not every file if it did it would take about 5 hours to do atleast on my comp :wink:

is there any news as far as when this issue will be solve i am new to the EQemu so when i installed everquest it autopatched itself when i came here i saw that you shouldn't patch or it won't ork but mine was already patched are you guys working on it or just let us suffer a bit for not getting enought information before doing anything?

it's not... sony owns the program (which you bought) and they own the server you play on (which you aren't using) so we set up our own server (which they have no influence over) and don't charge for it... they can't do anything... the people who wrote the emulator own the emulator-- sony didn't write it-- sony doesn't own it. they aren't banning you because it's illegal... they're banning you because it cuts into their profits![/quote]

1st time since registering/playing that I'm now getting 1017. Had a fatal HD error, reformatted, reinstalled OS/DX as well as EQ etc. Patched to live, changed the host file contents, 1017'd, did a search, followed the directions and still 1017.

Anyone have any out of the norm tips/hints?
