I found an interesting little program that i thought i would share for those who dont know about it. Its called EMS Free Surfer and its free to download for evaluation. (As far as i know you can keep using it without paying!) It blocks almost 95% of all pop ups and you can even toggle a little sound to play when it does :D

Heres the link

Or you could use Opera as your browser. It has 7 advantages over internet explorer...

1) It isn't made by microsoft
2) It has several features including the ability to block 100% of all pop-ups
3) It isn't made by microsoft
4) It is much faster
5) It isn't made by microsoft
6) It has a built in search bar that you can configure to use the search engine of your choice

and most importantly...

7) It isn't made by microsoft

I don't see why people whine so much about Microsoft. I can see why people hate Netscape, but Internet Explorer is fine.

It opens. It lets you see websites.

I've been having great luck with Mozilla, Not a single pop-up even on those pop-supported boards, and you can't beat the Mozilla download manager. All this for free too.

Darkyth, until you've been away from Microsoft, you don't know the joy of being away from it.

Linux and mozilla and openoffice, baby!

[edit: removed longwinded anti-microsoft diatribe]

Until I see some solid arguments to the contrary, I'll continue under the impression that microsoft makes some good software! I'm all ears! (well, some legs and arms and a few other things ..)

I actively back up this belief through the career I've chosen and the investments I make - so if I'm wrong, I need to know about it ASAP!

In fact, Microsoft now stands with the largest market cap in the world - so there's probably quite a few others who will want to know about this too.

As a user, I feel I get better bang for buck in Linux.

So what would you consider "solid" arguments?

wow.. i had no idea there were any other good ones besides EMS. Google didnt work too well for me, it reminded me too much of Xupiter which constantly plagued my browser with a stupid search bar.
