Need help for completion of GLOBAL SPAWNING project
Yes...Another one of these posts asking for other people to compile source but I do promise you it is worth it. Over the past year I have been trying to utilize a program that would act as a hub and would acess all of the graphic files in Everquest simultaneously allowing players to be any race in every zone. So far my work has proved to be sucessful and I am trying to finish it up. It will be done within a week.
The only reason I tell you this is because I am not flaming the boards asking for help, having contributed nothing... This program will allow us to move forward. If you have any questions about the program, e-mail me at Wizzel11@yahoo.com and if you can compile my source which will allow me to utilize global spawning, it will help this project move along quicker. The modified source code is not just a few changes, it changes the way the EMu acesses the zone server files and sends that data to the EQ client. Its all confusing I know but this has taken me a year and I can't wait to have it finished. Ok I give up... how do you know a source that you've been working on for a year even works, when you haven't compiled it?

Good question...My program that runs on the side of the EQEmu acesses the specific zone files and textures and models itself however this creates slowdown. With a modified source code, I can change the way the EQEmu talks to my program because the only way I can have this work and have it be stable is with this modification... Right now it works but is unstable and crashes the zone client randomly...between ever 2 to 10 mins.

Anyway, the answer to your question is that I can compile I know how and I know how to program but I need it to be compiled with the Microsoft VSnet studio and its not free so I need help. I know i can compile with bloodshed, but I can't seem to get it working...if you could help me with that it would be much obliged and trust me, you guys will love this program... -Wizzel |
Why dont you just post the source and we eill try to compile it (after making sure its not a virus)... if you want us to compile it we need the source ANYWAY.

I want to give it to one person first have them compile it and then I can test it and make sure it works...Then I will release it along with the source...why is this so confusing...can anyone help me compile please???

It is NOT that confusing, it is just that you seem to want to keep this a secret. I mean, if you posted the source on the board, then when it is checked out everyone WOULD probably like it, however, it seems as though you do NOT want to post it, and that makes people very apprehensive... Especially considering your lack of contributions (which is NOT to say you cant be trusted), with the closed source attitude you wont find TOO many guinea pigs to help out, though you MAY find a brave soul.
In other words, so far all you have given us is emty talk of something that seems too good to be true, which if you remember the saying, it usually is... Try posting the source. If it is as good as you say it is, TRUST me you WILL get the credit for it, if that is what you are worried about.. |
If you want you can send me the source (in a ZIP or RAR file please, max compression) and i'll take a look at it and try to compile....

hmm, I don't really get what this program is supposed to do? how does the server accessing all the zone files help someone elses client show models in other zone files?
would't you need a modified client to be able to listen to orders from the server to look in a diffrent zone file than the one you are currently in to pull a model out of it? as it is now in another post somewhere around here someone explains how to change the not too new .txt files for loading diffrent models into zones, pretty easy except you'd have to have anyone who plays on your server download and put these files in their eq folder for them to see other models that you have loaded in a zone. now if this program accesses all the files simultaneously wouldn't that kill memory pretty quickly also? or does it only load in stuff that is currently being used? but even so if the server is pushing out all this data to all the clients clients connected isn't that gonna chew up bandwith? still don't understand how the client is supposed to accept model and texture data that way though? also, how have you tested this program in the past if you can't compile it now? and why develop it in a way that only m$ .net can compile? I personally don't even want .net framework on my computer, am really against microsoft stuff after reading about the tcpa laws they'd like to have congress pass, unfortunatly stuck with windows still and hope their little friend company of theirs doesn't win this battle over linux, though I haven't read up on it in a while so not sure what's going on with it, if microsoft gets it's way though can kinda kiss open source projects like this away though if you read what stuff like their "security" chip called the fritz chip will allow them to do, just imagine a world where a few clicks from a government offical or top company guy can say I don't want this document this guy wrote to be read anymore, and instantly patched to all computers to blacklist that document and it can never be opened no more, try to crack it, federal offence, try to get rid of the "security" chips they forced into everyones pc's federal offence but anyway jeez I went totally off the point there but this wasn't meant to be a flame or anything, just wondering what this program is exactly supposed to do and how it's exactly supposed to work and just incase anyone is interested in what I was talking about http://www.againsttcpa.com/what-is-tcpa.html and just look into companies backing it and if you guys running this project don't want this kind of talk against stuff like this on the board just lemme know and I'll edit all that out, just figure it'd be good to let people be aware of it since you don't see anyone talk about important things like this on the news, that's probably why the dmca law got passed and our government was allowed to bully denmark into picking up those laws too. pretty sure scorps daughter's sig has a link to that in it |

But Wizzel, i would like you to tell everyone the truth about what u wanted compiled because i was nice enough to do it (even after knowing what it really was). |

What Wizzel actaully wanted compiled was in fact, just 0.5.5-DR1 =P The only modifications made were to version.h (Wizzel-Quest-1.0) and making EQEmu Shopkeeper say "WQ Shopkeeper". i'm not worried about the binaries because changing version.h makes it so you cant use it on the EQEmu loginserver =) |
