minilogin problems

i cant connect to my own local server because it says my connection to the patchserver timed out. i tried connecting when i had emu patcher running and it didnt help. anyone know what i should do?

is there anyway that i can see what zones are up on a server before i log in so i dont get kicked out because the zone is not up.

playing on my comp

is there anyway that i can play offline on my computer. maybe if i created a local server on my comp and then connected to it. and if so, then could i take that char and play on other ppl's servers?

getting kicked to desktop

Every time I try and log onto a server it kicks me back out to desktop. I make it to the character creation screen fine and then create my character. But then, BAM, back to desktop. Can anyone...
