I can't get logged on

Ok everything works up untill i try to log onto a server

I get this...

Error 1017 Cannot Login to the
EverQuest server
you may need to re-run the update
patch. Repeatedly seeing this...

well realy i didnt get the emu to work it still...

well realy i didnt get the emu to work it still faults out, it's somthing to do with it messing up the eq dll file, i'm not sure what it is but when i try useing emu it does that and then i have to...

When I go to log into a server i get a "This program has proformed a illegal operation" and this is what it is,

" EQGAME caused an invalid page fault in
module EQGFX_DX8.DLL at 017f:012db018."
...
