Why can't I connect to any servers

I finally got eqemu to work, and I logged in and got to the server list, but whenever i click on a server, the screen goes black, and then right back to windows, does anyone know what is going on? ...

ok, tried it with eqwindows, but now when i try to connect i recieve the error cannot connect to the everquest server, i tried both the eqlogin1, and eqlogin3. is there anything i am doing wrong?
