Yup that resolved it in its entirety. I am now logged in with success. It collides port-wise with some other game servers I run, but I think those are all fully configurable, so I'll fuck them off...

I see. Makes perfect sense to me ;) the pcap suggests that the client is indeed talking to the zone server (with quite a bit of chatter, in fact), but maybe it's pissed off about those ports...
