yup its good to know your comp is in good shape with the boot beep, so no its not useless plus it tells you what is not functionning if boot is not correct (three beeps for video card for exemple ......

for overalll speed trumpcard its affected by what you are wearing like in EQ but your atheltics skill is going up and affect it badly ( when athletics are at 60 you really begin to run a lot faster )...
