Thanks for your reply, however, I download larger zip files than 1GB (like 100's of GB's) pretty often and have no issues with anything else. one of those .zip files was 500GB and it had no issues. ...

So, I was looking through the .pl file for the installer, and I noticed if a file called "eqemu_server_skip_maps_update.txt" is present, it will skip doing the maps. that's what it says anyway.
