Default Quick Questions

Last time I tried EQEmu I couldn't play because I had patched EQ and I was wondering if it was okay to re install EQ and maybe try this again with 5.8. Also are the guides on the tutorial forum still accurate or are there new ones anyone could point me to? Thanks

Should I download and install everything now anyway so I can get on it when 5.9 comes out?
