Hiring Non-Payed Interns Update
I really really really wish I could edit this thred to update what positions are available and any mistakes I originally made. Sadly, A reply to the post will have to do.
Information for: Server Administrators GMs
The Emulation Development Team for the newly renamed Project Fox will have a strong need for Server Administrators in about two months, which is one month before the server is released for beta testing. This means any Server Administrators that are hired, won't actually have any work for two months, at which point they will enter training. There is currently a large but not immediate need for this position. I would also like to note that Server Administrators are GMs.
Information for: Database Administrators
We have reached our capacity for Database Administrators. There is no Tier 1 available for this position because there is no need to train someone since our current staff is trained well enough in this area. Tier 2 and Tier 3 positions have not been assigned and won't be until recruitment has ended. This is because the positions will be assigned to individuals based off their experience.Although we have reached our capacity for Database Administrators, we will still hire those that have better qualifications then those already a part of our team. That means that some Tier 2 Database Administrators might get reassigned to another position that they can help out with.
Information for: Quest Scripters
Many of our Database Administrators have the experience to double up as a Quest Scripter. This means that this position is not as important as originally anticipated. However, there currently still is a need to help take the work load off the Database Administrators. There currently is no need for Tier 1 Quest Scripters although that could change in the future. Tier 2 and 3 positions are wide open but just as before, the position will be assigned to individuals based off their experience after recruiting is over.
Information for: Quest Writer
There has been some questions asked about the Quest Writer's position. Basically zero knowledge is needed of any type of coding. This position is strickly for an individual that can come up with scenarios, quests, and ideas on paper. This means they need to have a skill at story building similar to a writer. However, because of the specific content that Project Fox is aimed at, the position must be filled by someone who has a strong grasp of comedy related writing. We wish to take full advantage of stereotyping as well as not limiting things that might be offensive.
Information for: Assistant Developers
There has already been one candidate recruited for the Assistant Developer position. However, there is still a great need of anyone that has a strong knowledge of C+ skill. Because of this, the requirement of working on C+ in the actual emulation code is no longer a factor. Instead it is only a plus. If someone applies for the position then the Assistant Developer Position will most likely be separated into Tier positions. Tier 2 being the main Assistant Deveoper and Tier 1 working under him.
Information for: Anyone with C+ Experience
Because there is such a great need of someone with C+ skill. If someone meets that requirement, but has never worked on the emulation code and dosen't have the other requirements for the Assistant Developer Position, then you may still apply. A new position will most likely be generated in which that individual helps the Developers.
Information for: All Applicants
What I have noticed is that a lot of the applicants own and develop their own server. A lot of these individuals are either putting an end to their server development, handing the development to someone else to manage, or is just no longer going to work on their server. This is NOT required for any position. You are welcome to continue development on your own server and even use some of our code for your own private means as long as it's approved by the Developers.
Information for: Our Server
There are a lot of questions regarding our server. The server that is up on the server list is only there to start development with. It is not the actual server itself nor is it on the dedicated connection line. In fact the server that you see on the server list is designed to not allow players to beta test. You will notice a bandwidth limitation that makes the server mostly unplayable. You will notice that only 5 dynamic zones can be started at a single time. You will also notice the title "Under Construction".
The server is currently based out of Atlanta, but upon it's initial release for beta testers, it will be shipped out to Orlando, FL, USA on it's own private T1 machine with a server that will support at least 3Gigs of DDR2 Server ready RAM.
Information for: Our IRC Channel
We also have our own IRC channel up and running. You can connect to it via:
Server: eqnet.eqemulator.net
Port: 6667
Channel: #fox
Thanks everyone for their overwhelming support for the project.
