Default followed server setup guide, have few issues

i followed the setup guide exactly

i'm running the AX database on a most-current EQemu (0.7.0), and i have the 2 spells files the setup guide told me to get

i was not able to load up any zone on my first try until i found the bit of code required to let the initial zoning of the first-ever character happen: the part about the corpses (sorry i'm not too technical)

once i zoned in, i had two problems and i've been up literally all night searching here trying to find answers...

1. my character floats, like there's no gravity...i can't walk unless i #size to get big enough that my feet touch the ground, and then anytime the ground isn't 100% level, i just float on ...

2. i target an npc, stand next to it, have #hideme OFF and #invul OFF and i press H to hail it ... i see, "You say, 'Hail, SOANDSO' " in my text window but no npc will respond to a hail

...even though i can /con npc's and the trainers, when right-clicked, give me training options

other than that, i was wondering if there was any way to use the old version of the character creation and character selection screens

all help much appreciated,

Faza

oh, also ... a pure question...

if i am on a toon in the game and open navicat, grab a table for an item i'm holding and change the properties of that item by editing the item values in the database table, nothing happens in game

UNTIL i close out the client *and* the server completely, boot up the server, wait until the 5 zones are there (what are those 5 zones anyway?) and then run the client

there's no way to do it on the fly?

that's normal?

that's how it is with everyone?

i changed my toon's class using #permaclass or something and it crashed the client instantly ... is that normal too?

thank you!

Default zoning / safepoint issue

if i use #zone, most of the time (after loading the new zone) it will put me in a place that's under the world and automatically move me to what it thinks is a safepoint, which tends to be under the world, and the loop goes on and on until i zone back out ...

i presume the safe points of zones are not correct?

like in west commons, i'm permanantly falling like an inch and then being ported back up an inch, over and over, somewhere high above the druid rings

if i #zone kaladima i'm just outside the regal gates of kaladim, standing on flat earth (well sort of ... floating above it and unable to move is more accurate), and if i #zone neriakb i end up in a strange little room that isn't on the map, with glowy walls and crap...

wah =(

Default quests fixed; still have gravity / movement issues

i saw the same piece of advice in a few places, and go figure, it worked for me too...

i have a C:\EQemu directory

within it, i have a C:\EQemu\EQ emulator 0.7.0-whatever

now -- within BOTH directories there is a \quest or \quests directory

it turns out the root directory had that folder full of quests and the sub directory had a folder that was EMPTY

so i copied C:\EQemu\quests (well, the contents of it) into C:\EQemu\EQ emulator version blah blah\quest (or \quests, sorry, forgot, but just use what the installer makes you have)

that made me able to hail NPCs, run through their quests and scripts, and i was very happy

///

i am *still* unable to figure out the lack-of-gravity issue, the fact that i can't move unless i adjust my #size to let my feet reach the ground (and if i walk over a decline, i don't walk down it, i continue walking straight in mid air, like i'm wile e. coyote)

i've tried #flymode off and i am using the two spells files in C:\EQemu that i copied from C:\Sony\Everquest Titanium

i'm really really stumped on that =/

///

also, when i use #zone, it oftentimes drops me in a spot that falls under the world, and then moves me to a safespot, and that's not really safe so i usually get looped into constantly being moved into a safespot...how do i edit safespots?

///

other stuff i'm working on (so you don't need to scroll up):

-setting rez timer for corpses
-trying to learn more tools for making sexy, dynamic encounters
-winning over pretty girl when not engrossed in trying to get my server running =/

oh and yes, i'm using the most recent PERL and MySQL too

I can't answer the zone issues you are having, but as far as getting items "on the fly", you summon them. Two most important commands for this are #itemsearch and #summonitem (or #si). Anyhow, this is how you get items in game, without needing to go through all the other hassle. Also, #giveitem will hand over items to toons you are targeting.
