Whats this 'Focus Effect'?

I logged on an EQ characture that I hadn't played for quite some time. Some of his items had 'focus effect'.

The only thing I've been able to find are list of items with focus effect. For instance the platinum armbands I got say something like 'Mana Preservation'.

I take it this means while the armbands are worn, you'll save a little mana when casting.

Is this accurate?

Anyone know where I could mind more specific details?
