Default HDD

I am thinking about making a server and try my hand at all of this. My one and only real question is what is the minimum spec for a good server to run? How big does my Hard Drive need to be to how fast should my server be? Any help with this would be much apprechiated thanks.

Default Re: HDD

While I have not run a server for quite some time, I would suggest at least the following:

Minimum:

1. AMD Athlon XP 2.4 GHZ or a Intel Pentium 4 2.4 GHZ processor
2. 512 MB RAM minimum at least; PC133 based, DDR recommended.
3. 200 MB of space on your drive; 200 MB should be more than enough.

Recommended:
1. AMD Athlon XP 3.2 GHZ or Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHZ processor
2. 2 GB DDR RAM (it will help in ALL very highly)
3. 400 MB space on your drive, which probably will be more than needed; and more than said above.

These are just rough sketches; as I said before, it’s been a while, and I have messed around lately on my system (1.5 GHZ) and a 800 MHZ aside of it, and had no issues; but I never had more than 3 accounts connected by LAN, so…Your performance most likely will vary.

I hope this helps some, good luck.

need a decient processor at LEAST a gig of ram, and a t-1 connection or better.

The server that can handle more then 10-15 people are all hosted at data centers on real servers.

Map files needed for LOS and pathing occupy more than 1Gb, database around 50 Mo (PEQ Kunark), tho expect at least 500 Mo for the upcoming DBs, I d say 2Gb total.

Anyway, asking his question is kinda hard since he never say how many people he wanna handle. A pentium 200 with 48Mo RAM is enough to run a server for 2 players (longer download times for sure due to memory lack).
