Default EQW 2.2 Problems--Help needed

Hey, I installed DX 8.1 from 8.0a (I believe) and then dowloaded eqw version 2.2 from eqw.eqhackers.com or .net, whichever one works I then unzipped all of the files into my everquest directory and made a shortcut pointing to eqw.exe. I tried it, it worked fine, up until character select. I tried to create a character, and my mouse pointer disappeared. I could still click on things, but I could not locate the mouse pointer..eg it was invisible. So I randomly clicked by way back to the char selet screen, and hit ENTER WORLD. The mouse pointer disappeared again. It was the exact same thing, eg I could click on things but the mouse pointer itself was invisible. I then pressed "I" and judged the position of the pointer and tried to inspect something. It worked, but when I released the right mouse button the windows in the transparent screen turned semi-transparent grey and the buttons turned a solid grey.

Now, I believe the grey problem has nothing to do with eqw, because eqgame patchme does the same thing, but if I inspect different items a few times it goes back to normal...wierd It doesn't really matter that much only EQW is very useful to me.

Interesting, you have found a related bug that I had found just prior to SoL when the test server was running a lot of the code.
Magically, the problem disappeared on EQLive when SoL became active.

The way the bug worked is that everything was fine until you opened a box, like inspecting yourself. Then you mouse seemed to disappear and you got gray borders around you main window.

The problem was zone dependent and weather dependent. I had seem a similar problem months before whenever it rained in Freeport.

As for the "fixing itself" that was also a characteristic of the bug. Changing screen modes often fixed it, and a couple of other methods.

I only saw the problem on one machine -- my "Verant has changed something so let's not risk anything" machine.
Anyway I bet my farm on the fact that you are seeing the Verant bug and that either you are not fully patched to SoL level or Verant didn't fix for you card.

The DX 8.1 upgrade is recommended for everyone. It solves several problems, unfortunately it doesn't solve yours because you already did that.

But here are you options:
-patch EQ some more
-look for a current driver for you card

I would do both, assuming you haven't yet.

If you still have the problem, then please post your card and driver info here.
