Default Can others Join my server through lan?

I was wondering if other could join my server through Lan using port forwarding or anything. My friend can get in game and i get the 1017 error or i have to change the worldadress to localhost then i can get in but he gets the 1017 error. also if he does get in when he tries to load a zone it just boots him out... is this possible? or do i have to put my server up on EQEmu and join there? Thank for any help. (also if you could point me to the thread that tells me how to do that..its probably a sticky heh to tired to check ill do that tomorrow though i could find anyhelp on my question,) thanks

Try changing your loginserver.ini:

Change the loginserver to your EXTERNAL ip, and also your worldaddress to external ip... That should work for you.

Ive tried that if i change login server to my external IP then when i run world.exe it fails to connect. But if i change worldaddress to external IP it connects but when i actually go to log in i get a 1017 error, but my friend can log into the game just when he trys to log into a zone it kicks him out (i need to change something in the boot5zone file? if so could you tell me which one to change?[ie left side internal/external IP other side internal/external IP]) i dont wanna put this up on the eqemulator servers cause i wont beable to keep it up for long periods of time right now plus i want to add things to it to make it uniqe thanks for the reply samandhi

If that is your only reason for not putting it up on eqemulogin, dont worry bout it.. It would be much easier to configure it for that than lan (though you SHOULD be able to do that). I run a server on the eqemulogin server, but I ONLY have my server up when I am going to play... Just say something in the title reflecting that you are not a full time server... Besides there are so many servers to choose from it isnt a biggy...

Are you behind a router? It sounds like you are... Here's how it works.. If you have your loginserver set to your external ip address everyone who tries to login to THAT IP will find your server (granted their eqhost.txt files reflect that). Technically you COULD have EVERYTHING else running localhost or 127.0.0.1, because you have all of those things running on YOUR computer so it only needs to look to YOUR computer to find them to run. All you need to have configured for the outside world is your loginserver.... Now, if you have that set to your external IP address then it sounds like a NAT issue, and you will have to foward your internal ip address so that the world will see that as your external IP address... If you are having 1017 error, the two most common problems behind this is version conflict and NAT issue...
