Default how to set up eqemu to play single player

hello people it;s been while since i last visted this place, i was wondering if its possible to set up eqemu so i can have a single player version of it to practice. i have investgated some of it so is it the database i need to tweak or what ???

my second question is that is it possible to setup a eqemu server without it showing on the master login severs run by eq emu. i am not trying to be self-fish as this due to the fact i have very little bandwadith availble therefore the max players i can handle is 4-5. so this private server is me and few friends to play sometimes!

All helpful answers will be greatly Appreciated!!!!

You may want to look in the forums with the big huge stickied posts with topic names like "How to set up a local server" before you ask questions that will likely get you flamed in excess.

Your looking for MiniLogin, which surprisingly has 2+ Stickied posts in the "Tutorias and HowTo's" forum telling you how to set one up.

Default buuuutt....

But what about the answer to his second question? Can you get your server to not post to the server list? I realize it sucks hearing the same questions over and over, but instead of replying and saying "go search", say nothing and ignore it, so a thread doesn't get built and having people view it only to find there are no answers within. I have scoured through these forums for the past several days and it is indeed daunting trying to find answers to things. The "FAQ" points to a forum. That's not a FAQ. You still have to hunt through the posts to find answers to common questions.

I'm not a computer newb, but I don't have experience setting up a server this complex. My experience is limited to running a persistant world for Neverwinter Nights.

So this isn't meant to say "Write a !@#$ing proper FAQ!", but more of me saying "It's hard for me to make sense out of all the data being thrown at me from several locations, so it must be hard for others as well. I would like to piece together a comprehensive list of 'To do this - follow these steps'" I realize there are several How-To's out there, but they appear to be platform and OS dependent for the most part. I just think this whole thing is GREAT and I can't get it to work. Hehe... I played EQ for about 2 years and swore I'd never play again. With EQEmu it appears it will be worthwhile to play again. So thanks to everyone working on Eqemu, the various databases, and all the tools that are used to customize.

Commence flaming at your leisure....

To the second question, if you set up a local server then it won't show on the master list. In one sentence, the process for this is: set up MiniLogin, connect world server to MiniLogin, connect zone server(s) to world server.

I answered that too, setting up a MiniLogin server stops it from being displayed with all the others too. It's also possible to lock your server so anyone with status below 100 is unable to login.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the replies to the questions. What I meant by blocking the server from being posted to the list was running a small server. Not a minilogin server. But now in response to your answer, I have one more question.

Status below 100 = ? Are these defined within the EQ server? Is the "status" equal to your access level? For example status-200 would be GM, 150-guide and so on and so forth?

Attempting to source .sql's now, but can't find the "items.sql".... hmmmm

EDIT - Found dumpeditems.sql, so hopefully that's the one i need... also I found the status levels here http://www.eqemulator.net/tips.php if anyone needs help with those. Things are looking up here. Maybe I'll have a server running by this weekend. hehe
