Default Crash

ok so im not exactly the smartest person here after not checking out the website before d/l'ing the new patch in the original everquest. first, before i d/l'ed the patch, i kept crashing when ever i tried to get on to my character in the raid addicts server, it would show the loading screen then just crash to the desktop. and the login would change back to its original one even after i changed it. a friend of mine who plays on raid addicts helped me out with this by helping me replace some of the modified files with old ones he had, yet after doing that i would still crash, but with a gray screen in teh character selection screen. yet i can see the list and some of the effects. we have no idea what is wrong, and could use a lot of help. if anybody needs more information on what exactly it is that is modified or any other information plz respond to this, or you can answer my need

Default fixed

dont worry anymore for anybody who saw this, i was able to fixed it. For future refrence to anybody who might have this problem, just reinstall everquest but do not update at all, and if you have a friend who plays eqemulator and it works for them, get them to copy all the info onto some cd's as files or on a portable hard drive, and copy all those files into your everquest folder and replace ALL.

That would take up like 4 CDs for multiple expansions. Its much better to patch all the way up and then delete your exes, dlls, and uifiles and get a copy of jsut those. Only a few megs instead of 4 CDs and works perfectly as long as you replace all of them.

You also need to make sure to get on servers that are a compatible version. Ask the person you get the files from what servers they can play on and try those. If you can't play on those you may have not gotten all the files or you may have a different problem like graphics drivers or something.

hm hm...i deleted the files from that patch list (ones that could not be found) but still no go...i don't think its the graphics card, i updated the drivers when it asked me to (i have a fx5700 ultra) i really don't kno what could be causing this. I have a linksys router but i don't get the 1017 error and i also set all the proper settings like port range forwarding #s but still no luck. Argh, i can go into multiple servers and create characters, but after i hit the enter world button, it goes to loading screen and then the music just cuts off and takes me back to server select screen with no errors whatsoever.
