Default Game crashes while zoning, then that character is locked

This has happened to me a bunch of times over the past couple days. I create a character, equip it, zone a couple time to do whatever and it will crash while zoning. The EQW windows just dissapears when it crashes, no errors. When I go to log back in that same character, I get all the way to the char selection screen select my character and boom, EQW window is gone.

I have tried these characters later, rebooted, tried a couple of days later...no luck.

Is this a known bug? I read over the support forums and didn't see this problem.

Any help is appreciated.

Default im going to try to help here

I know this error you are talking about. its not realy a bug. but what happens is if you zone into a zone that you dont have on your computer for some strange reason. or you some how fall off the grid. ( your not within the safe cordanates.) it will cause the game to crash like that ( well or atlease it has on me) and what i did was i got the eqadmin tool
and in the character part move your character to a zone you know works and the safe cordanates. and you should be able to log in with that character again. im not 100% sure this will work but im prity sure it will. just post a reply telling me if it helps.

I'm assuming I wouldn't be able to do this on someone else's server. I've been using the gotfrags login server and playing on the one listed as Adult something server....

in most cases just try to login again and it will resolve the problem , but on this eros server I had the same problem , it seems that this guy has too much modified his server so well.. just go on another or start another char

I guess the problem is I spend 10 minutes on a character that gets locked in never never land in 3 minutes of playing. Kind of pointless. And I havent seen any other servers that are up as much as Erols.

Anyone have any ideas on this? I've tried other servers and I'm still having the same problem.

But hey, I finally made a list of all my items!

If you don't have all the EQ expansions installed, you can't try to zone into those zones. If you only have the original client CD, then don't try any Kunark, Valious or Lucin zones. The server will let you, but your client can't load the files for those zones. Thus the lost characters.

I have them all installed. Maybe part of the problem is I have been running my own server and joining others (n00b). Thanks for the help thus far, I am going to try just joining when I get home in about 30 mins. I'll post the results here.

Played for a good while on Ero's with my new monk, Drunken. And even zoned about 10 times. About the second time I hit Arena, I crashed and another monk in hell =(. So it seems like it has gotten better, but the problem still lurks.

Default Grrr

Same here ... I have a level 70 in Sleepers (in Lyenu's), another in Hate in Eros, etc. etc. etc.

I have all the zones -- I can go there no problem in "real" EQ. My characters get locked in eqemu :(

I am running 16 bit desktop and it happens wheather I run eqw, regular and replacing the eqhost or with the patchme switch. Either way I can't reach my characters as I get booted to desktop every time I try to access that character.

It is frustrating :(

Are the characters getting lost above 60 and not GM's?

Some are above 60, some aren't .... it doesn't seem to be a factor for me.

I could be wrong, I didn't go look it up. But I think 61+ non GM privledged users have this happen when they zone.

If it is a zone specific problem, you can move where your character is via sql commands or the EEE tool in 3rd party tools.

I'm not sure what else to suggest.
