Default Some hint's on how to speed up your Windows

I always seem to get "herded" back into windows, for one reason or another. Here's some things I always look for first when I have a slow PC;

1 - Check for virus, malware, etc : Go to http://www.bitdefender.com , they give a free online scan that works very well (your personal AV could also be infected).

2 - If you play EQ from the same machine the server is on, try and reduce client memory usage (example turn off all models).
I have a "skeleton" eqclient.ini i made, which I use for my Linux box, and Windows - if anyone's interested, PM me and I'll link it.

3 - run "msconfig" (from the start tab; start > run > msconfig), and uncheck all useless crap that slows you down in "services" and "startup" -
This link will help you get started on how to do this;

Probably a good idea to go through this whole page;

as he has a lot of good ideas and help.

I have things like "automatic updates", "msn messenger" and "security center" turned off, as they are a royal pain in the butt. security center to me, is just a MS gig to make money off you.
