Editing PC textures

Is there a way to fix PC textures? I know you can for NPCs but i want to try a few on PCs. I noticed that when you show stats on a person, it shows they're using texture 255 and helmtexture 255. I'm guessing that this might be why helms are showing up for people. Any thoughts?
