Default Slow Motion "Lag"

I have EQ running on two different computers. The WinXp desktop is perfect. The Vista laptop on the other hand is afflicted with a Slow Motion "Lag." It's not from connectivity problems or actual lag based on a slow modem/ping ~ it's just Slow Motion. How would one go about fixing this?

Thanks in advance.

Are you running a dual-core processor on the Vista machine?

Uninstall vista?

I couldn't resist.

While I have not used Vista, I would presume when you right click on your shortcut and choose properties, there is still a compatability tab. use that to set the compatability mode to either windowsXP or windows98 (98 preferably if available).

Also make sure your power usage mode is set to always on. EQ seems to NOT wake a CPU up into it's higher power state which is what you force on by setting the power scheme to "always on". Once you are done with EQ, you can either change it back or leave it, just know that if you leave it your computer's heat will be higher than it used to since the CPU won't scale down when not in use.

Also check your video drivers. A lot of manafacturers only give you the base version so it has no performance or anything other than running window's 2d screens. Get best drivesr from laptopdrivers2go.com or whatever the place was called. Make sure you follow their direcations.

The dual core should only be an issue if your sounds/video get out of sync. Otherwise it doesn't cause issues with everyone.

Also check your sound drivers, while you may or may not have sounds on...it does take up sync and timing resources. Those drivers might need to be updated too.

I'm running XP dual core. I had trouble with EQ also, but fixed it by running in compatibility mode as "Windows XP." That solved it for me.
