Default RealmCrafter

I've been digging hard into the public forums on their site for info on this program as well as playing with the demo and watching the various tutorials on youtube.

im looking for more info from outside sources as to what this engine & toolset is actually capable of out of the box. like just how much of "the game" is there to start on and begin with, including such things as combat algorithms and stat adjustors skill modifiers and even resistances due to armor /etc if any.

i know im on my own as far as graphic creation, animations, new textures, gui skins, etc...

love any and all comments on this product before i drop a $100 on software that may or maynot be any better than free-ware mmorpg/rpg makers.

I wouldn't waste $100.00 on this. If you want to make your own game, I would look into using the source engine considering it is very flexible and is capible of being used for an MMO. (There is support for "MMO-Style" zones, etc as well as database control.) Valve can help you with subscriptions and other options you may want as well...

thanks for the heads up bud. im with ya.

ultimately decided against buying realmcrafter, even with the "free pro if buy soon!" thing they're offering.

just didnt like the feel of games (that i could find) that had been made by it and i didnt care for the sidestepping way they kinda dodged most of my questions on their public forum with only vague promises of much goodness inside the pay section forums.

The unfortunate thing about freeware engines like RC and others.... It doesn't have that "professionally designed" feel to it. I think the best graphics engine out there that is free would be Ogre 3D. You may want to check that one out.

I would like to issue a warning to anyone thinking of purchasing Reamlcrafter, I bought this program in April of 2006 and since then it has all been promises of a stable engine and many improvements, So far there has NEVER been anything even remotely stable and it has constantly been a case of having to start the entire game over. I feel I have given them more then enough ample opportunity to make at least a half decent program but alas....it continues to be riddled with problems and broken promises.....So beware.

RC Pro was released to existing owners yesterday. I downloaded it but haven't even unpacked it yet.

Lawmaker is looking good from the brochures and has a $100ish "weekend warrior" licence which I've purchased so I can plink around in it at my leasure without demo time limits (they have a demo you can get for free by emailing the company). I've messed around a bit in the editor and the system is very slick. The biggest draw for me was their claim of advanced networking capabilities - automated replication and minimum bandwidth use. How effective it is, I have no idea since I haven't even gotten close to that stage yet.
