Default Changing Sky Color

I've done all I can think of to change the color of the sky in fearplane. It's red, and doesn't respond to either GM commands or DB changes. I've gone so far as to copy all sky, clip, and fog settings from southkarana to fearplane, with no effect. Why isn't it responding?

Ha! I tried to change sky and fog in Umbral Plains =)
I can change to sky to anythign I want and but I cannot change the fact that time of day is hard coded into the zone - and even with night sky and black fog- the ground is stil lit as bright as the sun =)

BTW anyway knows how to make fog in zone VERY intense- like during the rain WIHOUT causing the effect you cannot see another wall and it becomes filled with sky graphics - cuase produces very wierd effect of emptiness

So then, the sky in fearplane is hardcoded into the zone as well? <sigh> I just finished setting all zone points to new connecting zones. Looks like I have some redundant work to do with a new zone.

#zclip 100 (or however close you want) 1000 (or however far you want)
then
#zsave

The first command sets the fog clip plane and the second command saves it to database.

For sky , its #zsky 2 for the normal sky. play with numbers theres not as many as there use to be then use the #zsave when you get what you want.

Thanks Sak, but I already know the gm commands. The problem is, they are ineffective from clearing the sky in fearplane.

Ok then, Always have to start with the simple solutions.

Here is how to fix fearplane sky

go into your C:\Program Files\Sony\Titanium\Resources\Sky folder and find the
WEATHER.ini file, COPY THIS FILE then in the original file do a search for fear and delete anything to do with fear and save it then you will have a normal sky in fearplane

Also by looking at that ini file you can figure out how they have set those sky up and set them how you like for a different effect that you may like !

By the way, I don't suppose you know how to change the "Entering" text when zoning, do you? (I know, I know; a cheap attempt at a two-for-one).

You can change the loading zone text but you have to do it in the exe, The only thing you can do easily is change the long name in the database of the zone... ex. Greater Faydark to Woods of Elfs (or whatever ) It will only change what it says in the chat bar upon zoning in but it will still say entering greater faydark on the loading screen..

Thanks; I know about changing the long name in the db (and have done so). How would I change the exe--or is that even possible? If I recall correctly, Wiz changed that string in the SoD loading-zone screens (e.g., Entering Felwithe changed to Entering Athica, or at least I thought), so it must be doable. Yeormom indicated he was able to do it here, but I have no idea what his code is referring to.

Default Changing zones\loading names

eqstr_us.txt contains a huge amount (if not all) of the text everquest uses.

zone names, spell names, spell descriptions and such...
it goes much deeper from changing class/race names to even change the text that shows when your hungry to "You are starving. Go and get some cookies".

It is a very long list of text. If you need to change Felwithe's zone name, just search for 'Felwithe' in the file untill you hit the 'Felwithe' name alone. This time, I think its line 2303.

You can even change the 'Entering' text when it says 'Entering Felwithe' =D

Hope it helps.

As Skat said, try doing something like #zclip 200 1000, then #zsave.
Now, to aviod seeing the sky instead of fog, I use #zsky 0 (I think its 0. Maybe 1?) and then all the emptiness becomes fog. You can also change the fog/sky's color with #zcolor command. Then #zsave.

I used this to create a clastrophobic zone where you cant see anything. Very cool =D
