Updated Map files? (server Maps)
I was wondering if the server maps have been updated recently? I have SoF installed and I can happily explore those zones but they're totally blank. I was hoping to see them populated soon if possible? I'd make the stuff myself but the models aren't showing up, and I don't know where to input those model info (hey if someone wants to point it out to me, I'd be happy to start making those for others too!)
One other thing.. in my SoF peq, I have sro and southro. Southro is the one that loads but again - is blank. Sro is the original.. I think if I copy the map file from sro to southro I'm going to have problems, aren't I? (IE, it may bring the characters in, but it might screw up the zone point areas?)
So maybe this is just a "wait for an update" ? Or did I totally miss something somewhere?
I'm using Les' all in one package, not the cvs system.

You will have to wait for an update for the new zones.
The server .map files are not used to populate zones with NPCs, they tell the server what the zone's ground and scenery geometry are like, so a given zone's .map file will not work for any other zone.
NPCs are populated from the NPC tables in the database, so someone will have to create spawn points, npc specifications, loot tables, merchant inventories, etc. for the new zone before it can be used. Some of the NPC specs can be copied over from the old version of a new zone, but spawn and pathing information will have to be completely redone.
Another problem with the SoF client install is that some zones are missing the ZoneNick_chr.txt files that tell the client where to find the graphical models for certain types of creatures. There's a batch file in one of the support forums around here made by Trevius that addresses that issue.

well I'd be happy to help recreate those missing files? Unless someone else is working on that already?
I'm ready to help, where do I begin?

It generally isn't missing files. It's DB entries for the appropriate npc types and spawn info. Due to the massive amount of work it takes to create such entries, this has generally been done via packet capture from live and then processing that data into the appropriate tables in the DB. There were tools for this but they were out of date enough that they would not even compile. People are working on fixing the tools (see the more recent posts in this thread for more information: http://www.eqemulator.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20278). Once the tools are working again, anyone who has a live account can help out by capturing information.

ok so (not having waded all the way through that thread yet).. in South Ro there's orcs, spectres, sandgiants, crocodiles, caimans, water goblins, pumas, skeletons,(?) mummies, maybe some bats,.. why can't I add that info to the database, or wHERE would I add it, I should say? And where do I tell it where to find the models? Unless I'm misunderstanding (not the first time!) it seems like a simple thing to me, to add some basic model info, then manually add some spawn points. True there's a LOT of spawn points specifically pointing at the orc highway, but for getting the most basic npc's in there would be nice.

As for the models on the client, you identify the model code for the race/gender model you are trying to add, identify a source file containing that model, and add an entry to the zone's ShortName_chr.txt file.
Example: southro_chr.txt
Code:
2
ork,ork
kob,steamfont_chr
This reference can help:

ok next question on that.. I'm using the Ax Classic Gui 2.04 (using the peq database of course) .. when I pull up the PHP editor from the Tools menu, it brings up my happy PHP editor, the PEQ Database Editing Interface v1.0 ... it doesn't have any entries for the new zones such as "southro" as compared to the original zone, sro. Is there an update, or can I again, add it so it can see it and I can get going again?
