Making items?

Hello.

I have been trying to make items through the EQAdmin program, but... none ofthem ever show up. In fact, I haven't even got the correct stats listed when I pull up an existing item. I'll admit i'm a complete n00b to this, but... Could someone please explain how to get eqadmin to work, or how to code in items manually?
