Default Live account required?

I haven't played EQ in over a year now, and it isn't even installed on my drive anymore. Do I have to have a "live" EQ account in order to patch my game up to current levels so that I can use the emu?

Kick ass. I'd hate to have to go back to paying those idiots monthly... Of course, it's going to take me a century to update my game - All I have is the original EQ disc and my Kunark disc. And I'm on a modem connection!!!

Thanks for the reply. I'll go install EQ and Kunark and get it patching!
