Default Big EQ patch coming, will Emu hold it?

They say the next patch will be major. They are now trying to balance the classes, they are making changes to the following classes: Wizards, Magicians, Monks and Clerics. Big changes? Maybe. You decide. http://eqlive.station.sony.com/commu...s.jsp?id=52118

Complete Healing changes, Manaburn changes, Rod changes, Defense changes. It is a big patch, just a question....would this be possible to break the emu? Expecially when PoP comes out, the changes will be drastic. This is not to far in the future, you might wanna think ahead a little... Just a suggestion.

Every EQ patch has a chance to break the emu. Even the slightest code change can throw off the emu until the coders can figure out what they changed and then make the changes on EQEmu. Sometimes this is very easy (such as adding a few lines of code). This is not always the case. In fact, I can remember a couple times when it took weeks and even months to fix EQEmu to work with latest patch at that time. Most of the time the updates are to their servers and not the client itself. Most spell changes shouldn't effect EQEmu.

This is why it is crucial you make backups of your EQ folder in several places (1 for playing eqlive, 1 for current EQ patch for EQEmu use, and 1 with last patch for EQEmu use if it gets broken).

I don

Yea, I think the emu will be very lucky if it don't break with this patch and PoP, they are changing defense, AA points and even adding new abilities for all classes. Probably even new spells. Not sure when the patch will happen, they did change the patch screen already, so I bet its close in the future. Would like to warn people about this patch, just in case they don't have 2 EQ folders (might not have enough hard drive space). Gotta go, in school, will keep checking site for a date on patch

As for this Wednesday's patch... I think EQEmu will be working soon after the patch. We already got code in that allows us to play on the Test client, so there can't be that many changes that breaks the emulator. Once the patch comes out, all we need to do is check that the Test code works with the live client and fix it if it breaks. Shouldn't be that hard to do though. Most of the changes VI is making are easy ones to fix.

As for Planes of Power live patch... I don't think SOE can do too much to break the Emulator in that week unless they have some planned change they haven't added in to the Test code yet.
