Default EQ EMU launcher issues

I downloaded the EQ Emu launcher from the link on getting started, and when I try to open it I just get an error. I have redownloaded the program a couple of times to make sure it wasn't a corrupt download. But I still get the same problem.

I have EQ installed and have not tried patching it through the EQ patcher or anything. I just can't seem to figure out why it wont even try to open.

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application.

Ok, so, do you have net framework installed?

Now it's giving me a new error. I tried googling it and ran into a whole new mess.

Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application

And on top of that box it gives me a .NET framework initializing error. Do I need to reinstall that framework again?

Did you restart after installing .Net framework 4?

Yes, also ran windows update and was missing 6 updates all having to do with .Net Framework. So I downloaded those, and rebooted and still giving me this error.

I'm stumped, never really used the emulauncher, it's got to do woth a dependency, keep googling, you'll eventually figure out the answer, the error above I knew was net framework because you get the same if you're using IIS and you don't have asp .net.

Ya after you said .Net framework it clicked. I had to do that to a friends comp to get it to work.

I wonder if it has something to do with the windows updates that were issued last night. I got some on my comp at home and at work. Or maybe the current EQEmu patcher is a broken file at this point? Highly unlikely but possible I suppose.

How do you bypass the launcher? I am trying to remember how I did it for my friend and his is set up where all he has to do is click an EQ shortcut and it runs from that. It had something to do with adding -patchme at the end of some file but for the life of me can't remember.

go into the root of the Everquest folder where you installed, and after that, find eqgame.exe not everquest.exe, copy a shortcut of eqgame.exe onto your desktop or wherever you'd like to launch it from

and make sure it has this at the end
C:\Users\DCurry\Desktop\everquest\eqgame.exe patchme

OK got the issue solved with the servers being blank. Forgot to change the eqhost file. Now just need to figure out how to get updated spells and such because at my char select screen it's giving me the message my spells are out of date.

What version of everquest are you using, because it's obviously the wrong client, if you're having this multitude of problems. You need either Titanium, SoF, SoD, HoT, or UF.
