Default Error - a timeout occurred

I installed EQ Titanium yesterday for the first time, changed the eqhost.txt file as well as the short cut to add the eqgame.exe" patchme at the end. The game was running fine and smooth for a good 4-5 hours -- where it suddenly froze and crashed on me. I'm pretty sure that was just my comp being a little brat -- and after an hour or dealing with it and repairing, uninstalling and finally reinstalling (patching everything again as well as adding the extra things needed for Project 1999 server) the game was running fine and dandy once more.

Until it crashed, again, 4-5 hours later.

This time, however, no matter how much repair, uninstall and reinstall I give the thing it refuses to log me in -- either to the server list or directly tot he Project 1999 server. It gives me the "Error - a timeout occurred." each and every time -- and this was after three hours of going in and simply seeing a blank server list. It managed to reconnect directly to Project 1999 once, and after re-picking my character and hitting "Explore World" it froze again.

Any help you guys can provided would be very welcomed -- I'm not exactly the most computer savvy in the world, but I'm pretty sure I followed all the steps for instalment and the Project 1999 steps to be able to play perfectly. So I really don't know what else to do now.

Are you only having this problem with the Project1999 server? Have you tried just a base titanium install and playing on another server - just to see if it works?

Problem is that after I did a clean reinstall now I only get the "error - timeout occurred" whenever I try to log in -- whether directly to the server or to the server list. :/

If you cannot even get on the login server then you need to check your eqhost.txt

The hostnames and ports are listed half way down the page http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka...akka=PlayGuide

Already did, plenty of times. The eqhost has the right wording and port for titanium (599 but I still kept getting the timeout error every time. Doing another clean reinstall again, and crossing my fingers that it might work this time.

Nope, I am still getting the error. It won't even let me log in to view the server list.

I'm still having the same problem. Tried everything in the FAQ. I logged in where I could see the server list once (I rebooted and did port forwarding) and then not again.

It's *just* this game that has problems with connections. My torrents and other online games have no issues.

My only suggestion is to open up wireshark (http://www.wireshark.org/download.html) and run a capture when you attempt to connect - something is fishy. We cannot really get a good idea of what is going on with your connections though with the kind of information we have here.

Typically if your eqhost.txt is set right and you cannot even get to the login server, tells me you are typing your pass wrong (if it says bad pass), if its timing out, you are being blocked, perhaps a firewall against a specific port?

Well, I can get to the login server, and it takes me to the server-select screen, but then nothing else shows up. I'll try doing the capture rq

MK, so I went and did it, and it *looks* like the ports are still jacked up. Got a few ICMP (destination unreachable) errors before I got the time-out error.

that's the wireshark dealy. I'm thinking it has to be something with my router, but this is really the only time it has given me any trouble.

When you say nothing shows up I assume you mean the server select is blank. In other words you can't even select a world to connect to?

After looking at the packet capture I can clearly say that the server list is not being sent properly by the eqemu login server.

They are sending 8 bytes after each server name (+1 spacer) instead of 10. Suffice to say you are not the only one having this issue, many have before.

Yeah, the server select menu is blank.

Got in just now, but we'll see how long that lasts. Thanks for taking a look
