Can't Enter World Ever Since 3.12...GRRRRRR

I have been doing just fine entering just about any server i please untiil today..... I can make a character but cannot enter world on any of them or on any 3.12 server.

is there something i am soppoose to download or something? I just want to enter someones server and play.

You need to patch..

Then put your eqhost.txt file back in.

I too have been struggling with a lack of login ability. It has been happening since yesterday, and I hope it can resolve it soon.

same problem cant log into any server with patched or unpatched EQ .....

surely we are not the only ones suddenly looked out? what is going on ,

1) patch EQ right 2)make sure eqhost.txt is correct which it is
ok then when you log character in on ANY server you get dumped..

wtf? getting pissed here been at it all day...

also i tried it with both my windows 98 HD and with the EQ on my win2k HD , both patched and unpatched EQs as well no dice...

yeah the same has been happening for about 2 days now.....i can't get into my server or anyone elses....it's rather annoying...any ideas?

Just thought I'd add my own name to the list of people locked out since 3.12.

Now, it was my understanding that nothing should have changed with the release of 3.12 when all I'm doing is logging into the public servers using the "patchme". At no point in doing that, do I have to go into my EQEmu folder, so I don't see the connection. It seems to me that something else must have changed at the same time coincidentily.

You know...I think that the real fun and challenge behind EQEmu isn't really logging in and soloing uber-mobs and what-not. I think the real challenge is that just as I'm figuring out (completely on my own...no thanks to previous posts I've made begging for help, I might add) what was wrong with my connection, something else comes along to make it so I have to start over again. I mean, I'm all for improvements and I can apreciate the effort made by image to set all this up, but it sure can get frustrating.

Ok, lets make sure everyone understands this.. You may have done this, but I want to make sure. I'm going to use caps for emphasis here, not shouting.

If you worked with 3.11, you are unpatched. To work with 3.12 , you MUST BE PATCHED TO CURRENT EQLIVE. That means you need to run eqgame.exe WITHOUT patchme as an option, let the patcher replace everything, quit out, put your modified EQHOST.TXT file back in, and then try to log in.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE PATCHED TO LIVE BEFORE TRYING TO LOG INTO 3.12!

yep patched and patched some more, even with advanced check all and all expansions check on.

something is messed... what is really wierd is why the hell can some get in and others not. i tried it on win98 and win2k no luck on either.

I know jack about networking but maybe it has to do with peoples connection speed? or data rate set? or maybe some file that is getting patched or not patched by EQ live. I notice it does not allways catch the same files when it scans. It is really frustraiting because you know something simple is behind it most likely if others are getting on. Hopefully the problem can be found. or we can tweak something on our client or put back a file ect.... so far from the people that are getting on I have not heard that they are doing anything special.. just patching and running the bloody thing.

Any ideas welcome

OK discovered something about loggin in:

If is try to get in with Dailup it will not work following are some results using dail up

- server select screen will fail when submitting name for approval
- if you can get a character approved you will be dumped back to server select
-if you can log in a character you will be dumped to server select.
-ALSO - NO modem send and recieve lights will be working during any of the above processes

-I also tried this with my network dissabled same thing
-I also tried this with data rate set 3.0,8.0,20, and 50 same thing.

IF I try to get in with ADSL+EQ windows, +data rate 8.0 it works
-character name approval very fast.

AlSO - I tried the reverse hosting my server with my dail up connection.. the same results happend when hosting with dail up i.e. see above with being bumped to server select screen.

So basically I use the DSL to host, and am screwed since i want to be able to use dailup to log in my own servers.

Does any experts out there know why the dailup is failing, i am connecting at 45kb. decent connection.

possibly the coding is screwed?

Are the pc's your using: behind a network, behind a router, or have any type of firewall on them? Yes I kno someone is going to say "That doesnt matter, only the server needs to worry about that" well ive gotten a few people to connect by disabling things like firewalls and such. If your using BroadBand, I suggest you go into your eq directory and find the file called "DataRate.txt", open it and change the number in their to 8. <= for broadband users I find 8 seems to work out. Also if you could say what internet provider you have... why?..because for some odd reason my freind couldnt enter my zone server yet you could get to the char creation screen fine, when he used AT&T first for his internet provider. Maybe some internet providers dont like the transaction going on between the server and your pc. <= I dont think thats the case here but hey, if the problem is to be fixed then I think we'll need to kno all the info we can about the problem. Actualy if you look at the first user's post in this forum he said he DID get into the charactor create screen but got kicked when entering the world.... if he did not change his datrate to a higher setting than default if he's on broadband.. than the problem is probably that. A few of my freinds got booted when entering world until they uped their datarate.

Mudman: I host my server on a broadband line and connect to it via Dialup.... so does a bunch of other people who use dialup. As for dialup, you dont want a high datarate because your connection cant keep up with it, so leave at the default 5 or whatever it was. hhmm... If you can connect to the login server ok, maybe you can try to log into my server, and when you get kicked out ill read the server logs and see what its saying. My server goes up at 3:45-11:30 basicaly every weekday, and like all day on weekends...that is till the cable company comes in december and finnaly puts in the new dedicated line.
