Default No Fishing! - Unable to fish.

My friend tried fishing last night and was not able to. I got a pole and some bait and tested it myself and was not able to. We both tried multiple zones and multiple ponds/lakes/seas and no matter what, we got the land sharks comment. We even tried things like levitation and such.

I looked around on google and the last post on this I could find was in 2014. But then found out on the home page of eqemulator.org it stated fishing was revamped in 2015 and with that, nothing appeared to match up from the 2014 post.

There are no modification to my build files. I am using RoF and he is using UF. The windows EMU server was built fresh almost exactly a month ago. If there is specific information you guys need, let me know, I will get it.

Thanks.

EDIT: I realized I didn't really pose a question. Any clues as to what is keeping this from working? Is this working for anyone with a somewhat recent server build?

Are your map files up-to-date?

My entire setup is only one month old. I built the windows server following the Wiki guide. Has anything changed since then?

I know there were some issues when the changes first went live..but, I thought they had been addressed.

I have successfully 'fished' since that update.

Can you post what client you're using and a specific zone, and possibly coords, where you are having problems?

It does not work in both RoF and UF clients. I have tried it in PoKnowledge, PoTranquility, Oasis, Nedaria, Cabilis East, Lake Rathetear and The Twilight Sea. I will check and see where all he tried. I tested in various spots both on the edge of the land, on docks and rocks if available. I have even tested moving further back from the shore. Tested in rivers and lakes. I have found zero places that work. I have tried such a large number of locations in each zone. Do you still want specific coords? Anything you would like me to test or check.

Thanks for looking into it.

Just on the off chance it matters, I am using a basic fishing pole bought from Daeld Atand in PoKnowledge. I have tried both Catch A Lot and normal fishing bait bought from the same guy. I do not currently know what my friend was using.

Tested using UF client, and items 13100 and 13102:

Crescent Reach: ok
The Twilight Sea: ok
Katta Castellum: ok
Lake Rathetear: ok
Cabilis East: ok
The Jaggedpine Forest: ok
Nedaria's Landing: ok (1 'land shark' message where I should have been able to fish..but, other locations ok)
Oasis of Marr: ok
Plane of Tranquility: ok
Plane of Knowledge: ok

Try running 'eqemu_update.pl' manually and selecting option 6 'Maps'

My maps are from there and my code is current.

I just updated the maps using the updater and my first test was successful. I originally pulled the maps per the instructions using SVN I believe? A lot of the maps show red icons in the directory key. I assume your method is the best method from here on out?

This brings me to another set of questions I was going to ask about the eqemu_update.pl. Are most of the options in it safe to use for a unmodified setup? Is option 14 recommended and safe? Not sure if it is something that monthly I should click through and check for updates for the various modules or not.

Thanks for your help. I didn't expect you to go through and check all the zones like that, very appreciated.

#zone works well

I'm not sure how old anything is that's not accessible through that updater script..but, most issues can be traced back to out-dated info

I think so? (on option 14)

I didn't notice that a previously installed update did run again when I did it to mine.
