Default Working on the Faction

I have decided that i will get to work on the faction, i have done enough spectating in the Emus process and i would like to help out, i just hope i can get the same feeling from others. Its been about 6 months since i have offically quit eqlive, i still can get access to it if need be but i would like to hear from some of the people visiting the site.

If you could just list a few factions that you know of (primarily from taking faction hits or bonuses from killing people) and what race / where is the faction. It would be great if you could just reply to this with what you know, it will greatly aid me in getting done the faction so you all can add it to your DB and get live servers working properly!

I should post the differante grade of factions for some (maybe more than that :p) too

ok, the factioning is coming along alright, and some are suprisingly already done, i guess by someone else at one time.

I have one thing though, in FQadmin, when playing with faction, what do the value, and primary faction do. I can guess that one of those mean KoS or not, ill have to look at the C++ code, but i would appreciate it if someone would just be able to tell me.

I'm guessing, but from what I'm seeing in the database, value is the adjustment to a given faction if you kill the NPC type in question. So, a -1 would mean that you would lose faction, and 1 means that you would gain faction (it isn't limited to +/-1). Primary faction seems to be like a boolean: 1 for the NPC type's primary faction, and 0 for all others. I have no idea what its purpose is or where it is used.

I just went through the DB again, and I didn't see any values in the "value" column that exceeded -1 or +1, so now I'm not sure if values outside that range are legal or not. You'd have to poke at the source code or talk to a dev I guess to get an answer to that one.

the values are/will be used in the behavior code of NPCs

although primary faction isnt important right now, just the sign of the specific faction values.

Primary faction is the actual faction the NPC is on.

For example, if you kill a Kelethin merchant, you would lose faction with Kelethin merchants. You would also lose with all of the associated factions attached to the NPC, if there are any.

Primary faction is the FIRST faction listed on EQlive, when completing a quest or killing an NPC. The rest are just associated factions.

On the subject of faction, does aggro and assisting work anymore? It doesn't seem to for me - creatures with faction at scowling/threatening level won't attack even when they are higher level than you, whilst allied NPCs won't assist you. Both these features worked in earlier versions.
