Default Newbie Questions........

Hey, I'm quite new to this EQ EMU experience. I've played on various servers but all of them seem pretty laggy. I was wondering if this is because of the server host ISP? Or his cpu. I was curious of starting my own server and was wondering if it would go any faster. I got a 2.4 ghz, P4 processor, and 512 DDR a fairly recent model sony cpu with comcast broadband internet. Will hosting my own server fix these lag issues? Or is it EQEMU overall that is laggy? Would appreciate the help. Thanks

I'm not sure if it's the server you are connecting to or the link to it. I run a local server on a Celeron 850 w/512MB of PC100 and it's quite fast even with a EQ client on the same machine.
