"You can thank Verant for disabling the old style login with the current live clients. For now you *MUST* be connected to the net and utilize our loginserver to run an EMU. A localized version of the LS could possibly be released in the future."--Pyro
I think the issue here is really that a lot of people didn't realize that Verant's new client code forces LS authentication. Many seem to think that was a decision made by the emu team. I honestly believe that the team has our wants and interests at heart here and just need time for the LS code to mature a little more so they aren't swamped with Really Stupid Questions(tm) when it is released.
It's a good thing for the features of 0.2.0 that they did not take the time to sit around twiddling the login server to try and make it idiot proof as there is always a better idiot out there. No offense intended

Really if they'd waited longer to release 0.2.0 to slap some new paint on the login server people would be bitching about that too. And I can say that cause I'm one of the people who was bitching loudly about wanting the LS released
Look back at the release schedule and the astounding pace of progress on this project. 4-12 days between releases? with each one showing marked and demonstrable improvement over the last? Yes, every time. Congrats to the team and as I said before 'Don't worry we'll find more stuff to bitch about down the road'. Thanks for helping those of us who left SOE's world find a new one. And, SOE if you're reading this I know of 3 people now who bough SoL to play it on the EMU. That's money in YOUR pocket for work the eqemu team did.
