Default Blue screen of death

most of the time when i load into a new zone (whether from the character select screen or in game) the game crashes and i get the blue screen of death, to which when it resumes windows, my screen is distorted and everythings in big lettering. if you could point me in the right direction for the solution i would appreciate it.
my comp stats are:
win98se
ti4600 (w/ detanator drivers)
2.4ghz p4
512mb ram
soyo dragon mb

I ran W2K for 4 years now without any trouble except once (but it was hardware burned :p) with every game (and i have to review a lot for my job -> video game review writer (?))

Win98 cant stand the 512 MB Ram you have and about the rest ...

From the information you have provided, i'd have to say the directX 9 drivers are the most likely culprit. Are you using EQW or Eqgame.exe? If EQW, what version is it?

i do have to admit, win xp is pretty uber. when i used it for like couple of months, it was flawless, seemingly catching every error and eliminating it. maybe its time for me to upgrade. <looks towards the warez store>

oh btw, im using the patch program to load eq, or sometimes eqgame.exe, but as for eqw, thats for my next post.
