Default Feature Req: #ban?

How does the community feel about a command along the lines of #ban? This would ban a user's IP address from connecting to your server.

Currently, I believe the way to ban a user is to set their account status to -2, but as I found out recently, the user will just create another forum account and get back on.

While I find it would be worthwhile, it would probably involve adding a field to the database, which some people might not like.

Good idea Merth. I was just going to try and implement a command like this and have it tie into a new db column. I also had an idea to have players that connect be broadcasted to GM's along with thier IP and then logging it. I think it would be much better for it to broadcast the connections to GM's than checking /who all the time. I Just haven't had the time to figure out how to broadcast and log it yet.

Banning by IP is kinda useless. Are you going to ban entire blocks of IP to prevent people on dynamic connections?

This is not as simple as it may sound.

I may just be rembering an old suggestion not used, but isn't there an option that setting the user level to -1 or -2 will ban the account? Thus no need to worry about IP
