Default Question thats Buggin me

ok, im fully aware of the rules and guidelines of the forums, but am haveing diffeculty understanding, by persuing this question im only demonstrating my desire to understand. i am wondering whats the big deal with eqfix.zip file share? WHY is it forbidden? maybe i wasnt around when "something" happened er whatnot, but its been buggin me since i joined with EQEmu. i would like to say again, i do NOT wish to get banned, im only wondering what was the cause of the problem. personally, i have managed to locate and use the file and find it better in the interrest that it allows people to play on 4.4 (when they COULD play) once they have missed the Dec. patch. anyways, if i have made a mistake by persuing this question then just lock the thread, please dont ban for my endless persuit of knowledge *curses his natural desire to learn about stuff he may be better to keep his nose out of*

At one time the reason was we were trying to keep the project as free of any potential legal entanglements as possible, and passing around files is a good way to do that. Technically, it's warez, so we stay away from it.

The community can do whatever it wants, and on their own servers, we just ask that it not be done or discussed on these forums or the eqemu IRC. Verant has respected our presense for a long while now, and we try to respect their products. No one can tell you not to throw those files around, but we can say that we can't tolerate being a party to it.. Long story short... Its your life, do what you want, but don't do it here...
