possible bug with packrat

I'm playing a monk and never got to use the packrat aa before. I'm not seeing any effect. Should it make a difference for me? After all, monks don't carry that much anyway and i end up destroying everything but plat but even then it's easy at high levels to get over your ideal weight.

Oh, i'd love to have a coin filter, or at least stop the high level mobs carrying coppers.
