Default Blackscreen - Public Login question

Ok, I've read the readme, the manual, the faq, searched the boards (there's one or two that kinda apply to my situation), read the readme again, repeat x10; finally got up enough gumption to post.

Here's what I'm running into:

Can host and play locally with Minilogin just perfect.
Can play on other's servers no problems.
Can host a server and have it show up in the list on your login, however cannot log into it - at server select, I click play, get black screen, and kicked back to server select using both eqgame.exe patchme method or eqw.

Trying to set up a LAN server so that me and a friend can goof around (his internet pipe isn't that fast); but when I run Public Login I get an Incorrect Version error.

Did a complete fresh setup; both at my place, and at his place. Same issue.

Wondering if there is a 0.3.9 public login exe, or if I'm just not seeing something.

Thanks; the emu looks and runs awesome, even running world/zones/client on my local box. Kinda fun to say 'Hey guys, hold on lemme do my epic. #summonitem...'

Edit: Forgot to mention, my network running XP-ICS on my side, friend's side running broadband router, tried exposing his server via DMZ host, and my server uses my real IP to talk to my ISP. Both of our networks connected via WAP (don't ask). :p

Not sure if Public Login is supported or not. Recently retried again fresh, uninstalled MySQL, redownloaded 0.3.9 emu, mini and 0.3.6 public, still no go.

But I can play locally by myself or on someone else's server no sweat.

If I try to host a public server, doesnt matter if I use Public Server or the Gotfrags login server, and I try to connect to it, I get to the world select, click on my server, click play, I get a black screen and I get kicked back to world select.

There's no errors indicated in world.exe or the zone.exe boxes. Just a client connect, and a client disconnect.

Gotfrags doesnt exist anymore does it?

Or is it the same as eqemu.net?

Post your config files, we can't really help without them...

Oh my bad..

But it WORKS locally! hehehe By Gotfrags, the documentation calls it that - I use the servers specified in the readme to try and host online.

Here's what I've got for local:

db.ini
Code:
[Database]
host=localhost
user=****** (Masked)
password=****** (Masked)
database=eq
LoginServer.ini
Code:
[LoginServer]
loginserver=localhost
(I use eqlogin1.eqemu.net for online)
loginserver2=localhost
(I use eqlogin2.eqemu.net for online)
loginport=5999
loginport2=5999
worldname=Balir's Dungeon
locked=false
account=****** (Blank for online)
password=****** (Blank for online)
worldaddress=localhost

[WorldServer]
Defaultstatus=
Unavailzone=

[LoginConfig]
ServerMode=Standalone
ServerPort=5999
UplinkAddress=
UplinkPort=
UplinkAccount=
UplinkPassword=
boot5zones.bat - local
Code:
@echo off
start zone . localhost 7995 localhost
start zone . localhost 7996 localhost
start zone . localhost 7997 localhost
start zone . localhost 7998 localhost
start zone . localhost 7999 localhost
exit
cls
boot5zones.bat - online
Code:
@echo off
start zone . (My visible IP) 7995 localhost
(I use local host since world.exe and the zone.exes run on the same box)
start zone . (My visible IP) 7996 localhost
start zone . (My visible IP) 7997 localhost
start zone . (My visible IP) 7998 localhost
start zone . (My visible IP) 7999 localhost
exit
cls
I've run the addon, added the public login tables to the db.. not sure what I'm doing wrong.. or maybe port 5999 is just blocked for incoming UDP/TCP? I've tried opening it, as well as 9000.

I may just be toast. I've run into similar situations with other games like Neverwinter Nights; but usually these are resolved with opening the affected ports..

Edit: By the way, thanks - reguardless, I've been having fun. Made a level 1 high elf pally, gave some plain ol mithril armor (ehheeh) and a Ghoulbane.. went to Crushbone, started at the entrance, and by the time I got to the castle I was level 11! w000t! :P

Edit2: Code came out too wide, sorry about that.

For online dont' use localhost for the worldaddress, unless you don't want others to connect
